The annual “Bhim Concert” is making a comeback in December 2021 after a year hiatus — owing to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic — management, Burniton Music Group (BMG) announces.
“We’re back and thrilled to be announcing 5th edition of the iconic and much anticipated BHIM Concert headlined by Africa’s most revered artiste Stonebwoy,” the management said in a tweet announcing the return of the show. “As Ghana’s biggest music stage, we are more excited than ever to celebrate live music and to bring a night of extraordinary performances to music fans around the world.”
“In the last five years, we’ve made a significant impact on Ghana through our Bhim Concert. This year, we’re excited to make a grand return after a year hiatus to support the revitalization of Ghana’s live music industry. We look forward to welcoming travelers back to the country to once again safely enjoy live events,” BMG added
The well-attended event, themed “BHIM of Hope,” will take place on December 21, 2021, in the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre. It will be a multi-stage, intelligently curated music event from the lyrically oriented performer once again.
The 5th edition of the concert will offer an opportunity for Stonebwoy to reconnect with his fans and the most reserved audience who have helped shaped the artist he has become. It will feature a curated selection of music performers blending some of today’s biggest national acts with exciting up-and-comers.
“I am excited our annual big show is back and I can’t wait to spend quality time with my fans,” Stonebwoy also said in a tweet. “I can’t wait to perform these new records live for you all to enjoy.”
According to organizers, a mega announcement of two worldwide music icons who will perform at the event will be made as part of the activities planned to commemorate music’s greatest gathering. Other activities will follow suit in the build-up. The concert itself aims to provide a unique opportunity for locals and traveling visitors alike to gather and enjoy a music celebration in one of country’s most beautiful and historic locations.
The music’s biggest night, which draws people from around the globe, objective is to not only have a positive and substantial economic and cultural impact on the country itself, but also to be one of the most anticipated annual events in the city – one that is a perfect complement to the existing national events in December.
The last edition of the concert was held in 2019 in Tamale. It was a sold-out event with an estimated 20, 000 attendees who throng the Aliu Mahama stadium to have a glimpse of the King’s musicianship.
Stonebwoy, a BET award-winning performer, connected with Angélique Kidjo, a multiple GRAMMY award-winning vocalist on the shores of Ghana in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Beninese singer-songwriter and activist, known for her eclectic musical inspirations and inventive music videos, traveled to Ghana on November 9, 2021, to commemorate Nana Yaa Asantewaa’s death and fortitude as a headline performer at the 2021 “Grow, Unite, and Build Africa” (GUBA) Awards.
She was photographed excitedly exchanging pleasantries with Stonebwoy upon her arrival, raising anticipation of a forthcoming collaboration. Though no specifics about the further meeting have been made public, a hypothetical collaborative project between Africa’s two greatest music exports is undoubtedly intriguing.
In the past 12 months, Stonebwoy has been busy travelling across the globe working alongside other revered record producers, musicians and meeting with international music executives ahead of his new full-length project — due for a worldwide premiere in 2022. His latest album, “Anloga Junction” was released last year.

Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources has commended Stonebwoy for his role as a whistle-blower in speaking out against illicit goldmining in Ghana.
The Minister, who currently is at COP26 summit in Scotland — where parties are brought together to accelerate action towards Climate Change, in a conversation with Bernard Avle on Citi TV’s “Point of View” said, Stonebwoy has exhibited a noble and patriotic gesture by using his voice to campaign against the growing menace of the country with his revolutionary song “GREEDY MEN”.
“Let me use the opportunity to thank and commend Stonebwoy for this timely intervention,” he told Bernard Avle in the interview. “I want to say to him that, it is very noble and patriotic gesture that he has taken. This is a national issue and the consequences of it impacts on all of us.”
He added: “Of course Government must take the lead role in fighting this cause, but the kind of intervention by Stonebwoy is welcoming and I want to commend him highly for selfless thoughts and significant step taken. This is an opportunity for Stonebwoy and I to have a painstaking and detailed conversation about this menace which is because of high unemployment rate.”
The GRAMMY and BET awardee is known for being a voice of the ghetto youths and a vocal egalitarian on social issues of concern. His previous songs like “Run Go”, “Black People”, “Suit & Tie” and more have highlighted his revolutionary voice along same concerns — and to a larger extent taken centre stages at purpose driven revolutionary events or occasion.
His latest conscious reggae track “Greedy Men” paints a realistic image of what it’s like to be a Ghanaian living in or near mining areas. In the song, he spoke about the economic loss, greater loss of life and property, poisoning of soil and groundwater, biodiversity loss, chemical leakages, and other long-term negative repercussions the activity is having on the country.
“Because of illegal mining, cocoa production is declining. Deforestation and rise in violence are climbing every day. Many men shall die because of the greediness of another man,” Stonebwoy said in the song.
In the video of the song, he gives a vivid depiction of how these foreign nationals engage in illegal gold mining in Ghana in their quest for riches at the detriment of the people. He also revealed how they use the underprivileged as cheap labour in mines of communities where they laboured long hours for peanuts to dig gold and other important minerals to profit themselves.
The elite Ghanaian musician explained that the song is timely as the menace of galamsey do not only affect the indigenes but the entire nation. He added that the fight is a collective one which should not be left to government alone.

For decades, illegal small-scale gold mining in Ghana (often known as galamsey) has ravaged our country. Illegal mining is not only dangerous from a safety perspective for individuals who want to engage, but it also fosters risky behavior, which has negative ramifications limiting the country’s progress.
Stonebwoy, an elite Ghanaian musician is presently playing a significant role as a whistle-blower, speaking out against the country’s expanding peril heavily carried out by Chinese nationals. His latest conscious reggae track dubbed “Greedy Men” paints a realistic image of what it’s like to be a Ghanaian living in or near mining areas.

Social media is already awash with excitement just hours after its release. The song is available on streaming platforms.
A report done on galamsey by Arnaud Liege says, “nationally galamsey represents huge sums in lost revenue and exports. In 2016, the Ghanaian government lost an estimated $2.3 billion in fiscal revenues through illegal mining. In comparison, the country’s top three major foreign companies collectively produce more than a third of Ghana’s gold production and contribute to above 50% of government revenues.
Gold royalties alone paid to the government reached $207 million in 2019 from $42 million in 2007, led by the performance of key players in the past decade such as Kinross or the Galiano-Gold Fields joint venture. Given its scale both in terms of output and labour force – with more than three million people living off illegal mining – formalising galamsey practices would represent a critical fiscal boost for the country, even more so now that revenue generation is low on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Meanwhile, Stonebwoy has announced additional dates for his UK tour “Anloga Junction.” The three-city tour, which will feature Amaria BB, will take the GRAMMY-nominated musician to theaters and venues in three locations throughout the United Kingdom. He will perform at the O2 Academy Islington in London on November 21, the Academy 3 in Birmingham on November 25, and the O2 Institute 3 in Manchester on November 26.
